I love a custom design! It’s so rewarding to help a customer’s dream become a reality. Whether that be a custom holiday card (more on that here), logo, wallpaper or fabric design, or really anything you can dream up, I want to be a part of it. I can even help you find a place to print out your design. So if you need matching t-shirts or totes or just something colorful for your wall, you are in the right place! Reach out to see if we would make a good fit, and read below to understand the components of pricing.
Initial Inspiration
Do you have something sketched out on a scrap of paper that you need help taking over the finish line? Do you have a pinboard with ideas? Do you know you need something, but you just don’t know what it is? If you know exactly what you want, then the process can be quicker with less back and forth. If you have an idea of what you like, it helps get the process started. If we’re starting from scratch, I would anticipate more collaboration as we develop a design idea.

Complexity
How complex is the desired design? Will it be a simple sketch or a line drawing? Do you want a full scene? Are you looking for a lot of details? The more details and layers, the more time the design takes to create.

Scope
Are you looking for one design? Do you want two designs that coordinate with each other? Are you looking for an entire mini collection? Sometimes you only need one design. However, maybe you are making a t-shirt and a tote bag, and you want two different but coordinating designs. The two or more designs would have a similar color palette and style with a motif possibly repeated across the designs.

Initial Concepts
Projects usually start with a conversation. I want to get an understanding of your vision and what you are hoping to accomplish. After we speak, I come up with a first draft sketch. This gives us something to talk about and react to. I can start with one initial concept or present two or three at once to give you options as we work towards the final design.

Revisions
Once you see the initial concepts and I collect feedback, it’s time to revise. The first revision is often the largest as it bridges the gap between your vision and my understanding of it. Depending on where you fall on the scale of perfectionism, we could make infinite revisions. Ideally, it doesn’t take that long, and we get to a place where your vision is realized.

Exclusivity
When the design is complete, it is beautiful and truly yours. You can decide to have it be one-of-a-kind, and I will not use the design anywhere else. However, if you decide that I can use the design or part of it elsewhere, I may incorporate it into other parts of my work.

Making it a Reality
A custom design is fully realized when it leaves the digital world and becomes a reality. I can help with finding a company to print out your designs, from wall art to tote bags and more. I can also manage that process to ensure that the design looks great on its end product.
